A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke 4:16-21 Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom

One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver, and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over.

Reclining at table with his disciples, Jesus was deeply troubled and testified, “Amen, amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me.” The disciples looked at one another, at a loss as to whom he meant.

Six days before Passover Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

Many of the Jews who had come to Mary and seen what Jesus had done began to believe in him.

The Jews picked up rocks to stone Jesus.

Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.
